FELIX KUBIN, messenger of exploding lungs, lives in Hamburg and works against gravitation. At the age of 12, he started composing electronic 4-track music, eventually releasing a series of tapes with his duo, Die Egozentrischen Zwei. Throughout the 1990s, he was active with the noise and tape collage project, Klangkrieg (with Tim Buhre), as well as with the Dada-Communist singing group, Liedertafel Margot Honecker. His current activities include composing futuristic/dadaistic pop, electroacoustic and chamber music, radio plays, lectures, and workshops, as well as running his Gagarin Record label. In addition to his solo projects, he currently collaborates regularly with the chamber group, ensemble Integrales, and the Polish (moderately) big band, Mitch & Mitch.

About Wolfgang Lehmann:

WOLFGANG LEHMANN was born in Freiburg/Breisgau, Germany, in 1967. Since 1994 he has realised and produced his own films, many of which have been shown internationally at festivals and in museums. He lives and works in Stockholm and occasionally in Rümpel, near Hamburg.

About the film:

Dragonflies with Birds and Snake (2012) is documentation and a meditation, a pure visual space of vibrant images and a travel in a world we never have a chance to “come in to.” The title says it all; the work is an imaginative world of insects consisting of images, combined with birds, as there are toads and snakes to see. The theme is the eternal cycle of life, birth, sex and death. The structure of the film images is constant change.

“ is a composition of images and contains of many frames of 16 mm film. Some images are self-recorded, others are taken from scientific film material and combining the images like in a collage, Dragonflies with Birds and Snake examines the mysterious grey zone of image and imagination.” – Wolfgang Lehmann

About “Jane B. Ertrinkt Mit Den Pferden”:

“Jane B. Ertrinkt Mit Den Pferden” is a new, expanded version of an early Kubin piece entirely made with a KORG MS20 and a Roland SH-101 at the audio studio of the AKI media art department in Enschede. The original track was released on the Diskono label in 2000.

This program is presented as part of Wunderbar Together: The Year of German-American Friendship 2018/19 – an initiative funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, implemented by the Goethe-Institut, and supported by the Federation of German Industries (BDI).

Non-Event’s programming is supported in part by a grant from the Boston Cultural Council, a local agency which is funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and administered by the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture.
