About the artists
Shamara (aka DJ WHYSHAM) is a visionary, activist, traveler, sister, god-parent and uses the tagline “Your Community DJ”. She was nominated for DJ of the Year in 2019 & 2020 by the Boston Music Awards. DJ WhySham has been seen on“The ShadeRoom w/ Megan Thee Stallion”, Boston Neighborhood Network and has DJ’ed for Senator Elizabeth Warren. She is also the Official DJ for Brandie Blaze and is the founder of the Boston Got Next, a female-run independent record label. Her debut album Finally was released in the fall of 2020 on Bandcamp.
BRANDIE BLAZE has transformed into one of the trailblazers of the current thriving hip-hop scene in Boston. Her passion for the city's hip-hop scene is evident in not only her work, but through the collaborations she does with other powerhouse local artists, such as Red Shaydez and Oompa. Inspired by the shameless self-love of her idols, Blaze uses lyrics to reverse the power dynamics of rap music and redefine what it means to be a woman in the industry.
