About the project
Sistema is a three-movement piece that explores a group of interacting or interrelated elements that act according to a set of rules to form a unified whole. A system, surrounded and influenced by its environment, is described by its boundaries, structure, and purpose and expressed in its functioning.
I. Maquinar is a journey inside factory workers’ minds and the internal struggle to maintain sanity within monotonous and oppressive conditions.
II. Corriente (AGUA – MAQUINA – OPERADOR) presents the interaction between water, machines, and operators in a water supply system. The text used in this movement is written as a series of sound poems based on haiku about water.
III. Máquina is a commentary on factory workers’ labor and the attempt to maintain sanity within monotonous and oppressive conditions.
