About the artists

A. Campbell Payne is a Massachusetts-based electronic musician with a practice centered around the concepts of time, repetition, chance, and perception. Payne's approach to composition incorporates complex rhythmic structures, novel tuning systems based on just intonation and the harmonic series, and intricate generative processes. Drawing inspiration from dance, astronomy, computing, and abstract art, Payne creates sonic environments that are at once approachable and disorienting.

Natalie Hogue is an electronic music and sound artist whose work explores concepts around physical space and tuning theory. This performance features pieces from her 2021 album Public Transportation Music, as well as pieces from her forthcoming work Comfort Objects. Natalie seeks to cultivate space through her music, constructing soundscapes and tonal sonorities which create respite within the harsh experience of a chaotic world.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Brookline Commission for the Arts, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
